Overview
Real Off Usage is an Organization-level setting that can be enabled or disabled.
When Real Off Usage is enabled:
Every staff member must have at least one eligible off day per week.
For each Global Shift, the user decides whether an off day immediately after that shift can satisfy the weekly Real Off requirement.
When Real Off Usage is disabled, the weekly Real Off requirement is not applied.
The Real Off rule is currently a hard constraint. When it is enabled, Oplist cannot generate a valid schedule unless every staff member has at least one eligible off day during each week.
How to Enable Real Off
To enable Real Off:
Go to Organization from the left menu.
Open the Global Shifts tab.
Enable Real Off Usage.
Configure whether the day after each Global Shift may count as Real Off.
Click Save Changes.
When Real Off Usage is enabled, the setting for an individual Global Shift can also be changed from the shift’s Rules tab. When Real Off Usage is disabled, this shift-specific option cannot be changed.
These settings apply across the Organization.
How Real Off Works
When Real Off Usage is enabled, the user decides, for each Global Shift, whether an off day immediately after that shift can count as Real Off.
This allows the Organization to define the rule according to its own shift structure and operational needs.
For example, an off day after a Morning shift may count as Real Off, while an off day after a Night shift that continues into the following day may not count as Real Off.
The selected setting determines whether the off day after that Global Shift can satisfy the staff member’s weekly Real Off requirement.
Examples
Example 1: Off Day Can Count as Real Off
Suppose an off day after the Morning shift can count as Real Off.
If a staff member works the Morning shift on Monday and is off on Tuesday, Tuesday can satisfy the weekly Real Off requirement.
Example 2: Off Day Cannot Count as Real Off
Suppose Real off cannot be set after the assignment is enabled for the Full Day shift.
If a staff member works the Full Day shift on Monday and is off on Tuesday, Tuesday cannot satisfy the weekly Real Off requirement.
Another eligible off day must satisfy the requirement during the same week.
Impact on Scheduling
When Real Off Usage is enabled, every staff member must have at least one eligible off day per week that satisfies the Real Off requirement.
The rule must be compatible with:
Staffing requirements
Post-shift assignment rules
Leave and staff availability
Other scheduling constraints
If these conditions do not allow every staff member to have at least one eligible off day during the week, the schedule becomes infeasible and no valid solution can be generated.
Important Considerations
Real Off Usage is enabled or disabled for the entire Organization.
When enabled, every staff member must have at least one eligible off day per week.
For each Global Shift, the user decides whether an off day immediately after that shift can count as Real Off.
The Real Off rule is currently enforced as a hard constraint.
